Dorothy
Fradley, our sister, mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother passed away in her sleep Sunday morning,
November 9, 2008. She was 86. She was preceded by
her brothers Richard and Donald and survived by brothers Raymond
and Robert; her 10 children: Dennis, Charles, John, Dale, Del,
Douglas, David, Doreen, Donald, and Daniel; her 34
grandchildren; and her 34 great grandchildren.
Dorothy was born
in Lorain, Ohio, on February 22, 1922. She was the eldest
of five children of John and Anna Lavish. Her brothers
were Ray, Robert, Donald, and Richard. She married Charles
Fradley in 1941, and remained married for nearly 60 years until
Charles passed away in 2001.
Dorothy and
Charles moved from Lorain to Miami, Florida with their six
children in 1950, where they had four more children. In
the 1950s and early '60s, she raised her children in Miami in a
community near Edison High School. In the later 1960s, the
family moved into a home in Broadmoor, near Hialeah, in a home
purchased from her brother, Robert. In the mid 1970's
Dorothy and Charles moved to Pembroke Pines where they lived
until 2001. Following Charles's death, Dorothy moved to
Tamarac, Florida and then spent several years in the loving care
of her son, Douglas, and his family, in Sarasota, Florida.
Her final weeks were spent under the professional care of the
staff at Ranmar Gardens in Coral Springs, where she accepted
daily visitors from her family.
